Overview
Located about 9 kilometres south of Da Nang's city center, is one of the most popular attractions of the region, the Marble Mountains. This well known attraction is a group of five hills made from limestone and marble and home to caves, tunnels, peaks and temples. Named after the elements; metal, wood, water, fire and earth, the Marble Mountains are a spiritual site visited for the many Buddhist sanctuaries and places of worship found here; however the mountains are primarily visited for their complicated system of caves and tunnels. These caves line up along the sides of the hills and consist of interconnecting tunnels that stretch for miles. Visitors that climb the mountain are also treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding area, including China Beach. At the bottom of the Marble Mountains, visitors will come across the Non Nuoc Arts Village. The local people here are famed for their delicate carvings of statues and stone work. Tourists must therefore make it a point to visit the numerous shops and pick up a couple of souvenirs to take back home.
