Overview

A great way for tourists to observe the locals and see them carrying out their daily activities would be for them to visit Han Market; the biggest of its kind in Da Nang. Located in the heart of Da Nang, Han Market opened in the early 1940s, during the French occupancy of the city, and is therefore known to hold a very important position in the history of Da Nang. The bustling market is spread across 28,00 square metres and is known to offer a variety of items ranging from fabrics and clothes to footwear, local food items, fresh fruits, flowers and even souvenirs, thus making it popular amongst locals and tourists alike. Some popular items purchased by foreigners include fish sauce, dried rice crackers and chili paste. While the two floor market is ideal for visitors looking for great deals, the Han Market food court is equally great.

Prayer Facilities

Finding prayer facilities at Han Market will be impossible as the city of Da Nang is not known to house any mosques or Islamic Centres. Also, since the market is quite a busy one, Muslim visitors will probably not be able to find a secluded place to offer their prayers while here.

Halal Food

As mentioned above, Han Market has a fantastic food court. Visitors will be able to find vendors selling a variety of delicious Vietnamese staples, like pho and bahn mi. Muslim tourists must however be careful when dining here, as almost all of the stalls will serve dishes with non-Halal ingredients. Muslims will have to make sure the dishes they order are completely vegetarian or consist only of seafood.
