Overview

A must-visit when in the capital city of Pakistan; Islamabad, is the iconic Faisal Mosque. Known to be the largest mosque in Pakistan, Faisal Mosque is renowned for its beautiful and unique architecture which is a mix of traditional and modern, and is one of Islamabad's most popular attractions. The mosque was designed by a Turkish architect, Vedat Dalokay and was completed in 1986. It was named after the late King Faisal bin Abdul-Aziz of Saudi Arabia, who financed the project. Nestled at the foot of the Margalla Hills, this iconic symbol is shaped like an Arab Bedouin's tent, with four giant minarets. The main prayer hall itself can accommodate up to 10,000 worshipers, while the mosque's courtyard can hold 40,000. An additional 224,000 worshipers can also be accommodated in its adjoining grounds and porticoes.

Prayer Facilities

As mentioned above, Faisal Mosque can accommodate thousands of people at a time. Muslims visiting the mosque will be able to find all the necessary facilities, including ablution areas. Muslim visitors to Islamabad will also be able to locate plenty of other mosques and prayer areas, since Pakistan is a Muslim country.

Halal Food

While finding food outlets at Faisal Mosque will not be possible, visitors will most certainly be able to locate plenty of restaurants in the surrounding areas. Since Pakistan is a Muslim country, Muslim visitors will not find it difficult to locate Halal restaurants. Street food is also quite popular.
