Overview

Visitors to Lahore must make it a point to set aside a couple of hours to explore the Lahore Museum. Located on the Mall, the Lahore Museum is widely regarded as the finest museum in the country and the building it is housed in is part of the original cluster of Anglo-Mughal buildings, making the museum's stunning architectural elements as well known as its unique collection. Visitors to the museum will come across a variety of exhibits and displays on the history of Pakistan. The 20 galleries found here represent different eras and visitors will come across Gandharan sculpture, ceramics, Qurans, jewelry, manuscripts, carpets, weapons, Islamic artworks, woodworks, a collection of coins, textiles, Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa monuments, antiques and more. A large mural by renowned Pakistani artist Sadequai can be seen on the ceiling of the entrance hall.

Prayer Facilities

Muslims visiting the famous Lahore Museum may not be able to find prayer facilities within its premises. Locating a mosque in the city of Lahore will however not be difficult at all. There are numerous mosques in this Muslim city, such as the Badshahi Mosque and Wazir Khan Mosque. Muslim tourists can therefore ask museum staff to direct them to the nearest prayer facility.
