Overview

Located alongside the Riverside Museum, at Pointhouse Quay, the Tall Ship; the only floating Clyde-built sailing ship in Britain is a definite must-visit when in Glasgow. The Tall Ship: SV Glenlee is one of Glasgow's major attractions and is known to offer a variety of interesting maritime themed activities and events. Built in 1896 and used as a cargo ship for over 20 years, the Glenlee has been restored to her former glory, is an icon of Glasgow's ship building heritage, and now offers an experience like no other. This maritime museum offers family-friendly events, talks, exhibitions and tours. Visitors get the chance to explore the Tall Ship and learn about its history. They also get the chance to learn about Glasgow's shipbuilding past and explore the ship's galley, engine room and the refurbished Captain's Cabin, visit its mini cinema, take part in our mouse hunt, question the ship's crew, and more.

Prayer Facilities

The Tall Ship does not offer prayer facilities for Muslim visitors. Muslims visiting the maritime museum will therefore have to visit one of the many mosques and Islamic Centers in Glasgow, such as the Glasgow Central Mosque, Jamia Islamia , Madrasa Taleem-Ul-Islam and Al-Furqan Mosque. While at the museum, visitors can ask staff to direct them to the closest prayer facility.

Halal Food

Those visiting the Tall Ship will be able to find a coffee shop on board. Although the food items found here will not be Halal certified, Muslim visitors will most certainly find suitable vegetarian and seafood options. The city of Glasgow is also known to house numerous Halal restaurants for those looking for Halal food in particular.
