Overview

A trip to New York is not complete without a visit to the New York City neighborhood of Coney Island. Situated in the southwestern part of the borough of Brooklyn, Coney Island is an entertainment destination that offers something for the entire family. It offers numerous amusement rides as well as a sandy beach and boardwalk, courts for beach volleyball, handball, and basketball, play areas for kids, the Coney Island Museum, the New York Aquarium, Deno's Wonder Wheel Park and so much more. Before WWII, Coney Island was the most popular amusement park in the country. It was then neglected for decades but has now been restored and improved. Visitors will find numerous fun things to do and see while at Coney Island's famous Luna Park. The amusement park features a variety of rides that are suitable for all ages and is therefore a must-visit when in Coney Island. The Coney Island Cyclone is one of the park's top attractions. This legendary coaster should therefore be on every visitor's itinerary.

Prayer Facilities

Muslims visiting Coney Island will not be able to find prayer facilities. They may however be able to find a quiet and clean place on the beach or boardwalk to offer their prayers, unless it is peak season. Muslim tourists could also visit one of the many mosques in Brooklyn, such as the Thayba Islamic Center and Masjid Ummul Qura; which are located on Coney Island Avenue.

Halal Food

Coney Island is known for offering a wide selection of dining options to suit all tastes and budgets. Muslim tourists will certainly be able to find suitable vegetarian and seafood dishes while here. They can also dine at one of the many Halal restaurants in Brooklyn, such as Pak Nasheman, Sultan Grill and Pakiza.
