Overview

When in Atlanta, tourists must not pass up the chance to visit the city's number 1 attraction; the Georgia Aquarium. Said to be the world's second largest aquarium, the Georgia Aquarium is home to over 10,000 animals which reside in a whopping 10 million gallons of water. The aquarium offers something for young and old, therefore making it a great attraction for the entire family. It houses numerous exhibits and galleries like the Ocean Voyager, which is where an acrylic tunnel and the largest viewing window in North America can be found. Here visitors get the chance to see whale sharks and manta rays as well as a plethora of other marine creatures swimming around in a 6.3 million gallon tank. Other galleries at the aquarium include the Georgia-Pacific Cold Water Quest; home to beluga whales, the Southern Company River Scout, the Tropical Diver, the SunTrust Georgia Explorer and the AT&T Dolphin Tales gallery and show. The Georgia Aquarium also conducts dolphin, penguin and sea otter encounter programs for those looking to get up close and personal with the fascinating marine animals.

Prayer Facilities

The Georgia Aquarium does not offer prayer facilities for Muslim visitors. Muslims visiting the aquarium will therefore have to make use of the facilities offered at one of the many mosques in the city of Atlanta. Al-Farooq Masjid of Atlanta, Masjid Abu Bakr, Masjid Al-Mu'minun and Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam are a few of the numerous mosques in the city.

Halal Food

For those looking to grab a bite to eat while at the Georgia Aquarium, Café Aquaria is a fantastic option. The café offers a variety of delicious food choices to suit all tastes and budgets. While the café will not be Halal certified, Muslim visitors will be able to find vegetarian and seafood dishes. Atlanta has quite a sizeable Muslim population which means that there are numerous Halal restaurants in the city for those looking specifically for Halal food.
