Overview
Although Santiago de Compsotela has numerous parks and green areas, the Alameda Park is a favorite amongst the locals and is a must-visit for tourists. Consisting of three different parts; Paseo da Ferradura, Paseo da Alameda and Carballeira de Santa Susana, Alameda Park is a fantastic retreat for those looking to relax and unwind. Paseo da Ferradura, located on the eastern slope of the Santa Susana hill offers the most amazing views of the Old Town and its numerous attractions. The park is home to a variety of trees ranging from eucalyptus trees to oak groves, as well as to a number of historical monuments, play areas for kids, an acoustic stone bench and a pond home to duck which visitors can feed. Alameda Park also hosts several locals and cultural events including feasts, book fairs, exhibitions and more.
Prayer Facilities
There are no known prayer facilities in Alameda Park and there are no known mosques in the city of Santiago. Muslims visiting the park will therefore have to find a quiet, clean place to offer their prayers outdoors, or they can get more information regarding prayer areas at the Islamic community of Galicia.
Halal Food
The Alameda Park has a cafeteria for those looking to get a bite to eat. While Muslim visitors will not be able to find Halal certified food here they are sure to find a variety of vegetarian and seafood snacks. The park also has beautiful picnic areas, visitors can therefore take along some food items to snack on.
