Overview

The city of Hamburg is home to the third largest port in the world, therefore making its port and harbor district an absolute must-visit. This lively area is said to be over 800 years old and is said to be one of Hamburg's largest attractions. The area is therefore ideal for exploring. Tourists will come across the 4 kilometre long Köhlbrand Bridge; which is Hamburg's newest landmark, as well as the Hafenrandpromenade while here. Running around the harbor, the Hafenrandpromenade stretches from Messberg to the Fischmarkt. At the legendary Hamburg Fischmarkt held on Sundays, visitors will be able to find a variety of goods from all over the world. Those visiting the harbor area must also make it a point to pay a visit to the historic warehouse district, known as Speicherstadt. The warehouses found here still store a variety of exotic goods, and many of them even house museums, such as the popular Hamburg Dungeon. Visitors can also take a boat tour, visit one of the legendary museum ships, or have a delicious seafood dinner at a restaurant that offers great views of the port.

Prayer Facilities

While Muslim visitors will not be able to find prayer facilities at the Hamburg Harbor, the city is known to be home to a couple of mosques and prayer rooms. Muslims tourists can therefore ask to be directed to the Fazle Omar Mosque, which is the oldest in the city, or to the Islamic Centre Hamburg, when needed.

Halal Food

While there are numerous restaurants at the Hamburg Harbor, many of these will not be Halal certified. Muslims visiting the port area could however dine at one of the numerous seafood restaurants in the area. They must remember to make sure that the seafood or vegetarian dishes that they order do not consist of any non-Halal items. There are also a few Halal restaurants in the city, for those looking specifically for Halal food.
