Overview
Located near the City Market, the Tipu Sultan Fort dates back to 1537 and is built in the Islamic style of architecture. The fort features intricately carved arches, and within the fort, the Tipu Sultan Palace, built in 1790 entirely of teakwood, is known for its ornamental pillars, floral patterns on the walls, curved arches and balconies. Although this summer palace is quite small in comparison to the Bangalore Palace, the historical importance of the palace makes it a must-visit attraction when in Bangalore. Tourists visiting the palace are highly recommended to combine other nearby attractions in their travel itinerary, as the palace alone will take around half an hour to explore. A visit to the market nearby or even the impressive Jama Masjid in addition to the fort and palace might be good idea.
Prayer Facilities
Although Muslim visitors will not find prayer facilities at the Tipu Sultan Palace they will be able to find a mosque nearby. The massive Jama Masjid, located near the City Market in Bangalore is one of the most prominent mosques in the city and is frequented by both locals and visitors alike.
Halal Food
Muslim tourists will not find Halal food outlets inside the Tipu Sultan Fort or Palace, but they will find an array of Halal restaurants in the city of Bangalore. The city is home to some fantastic restaurants. Areas such as Rajaji Nagar and Frazer Town have quite a number of Halal restaurants. A visit to Bangalore is not complete unless you have a meal at Imperial Restaurant or Empire Restaurant.
