Overview

The Picasso Museum, housed in an old palace from the 15th century in the medieval part of Barcelona, known as El Born, is the most famous museum in the city and is definitely a must-visit for art lovers. The magnificent stone mansions alone make the visit worthwhile, as these medieval buildings and lovely courtyards, staircases and galleries are quite well preserves and are as impressive as the unique collection of art displayed inside. The museum's collection of art is from Picasso's early years as an artist and therefore does not have his better known pieces on display. Yet the museum is home to some of his early sketches and lesser known paintings, enabling visitors' insight into the development of Picasso as a famous artist.

Prayer Facilities

Muslim visitors requiring prayer facilities may not find them within the museum premises; however they will be able to locate prayer facilities in the city of Barcelona, as it is known to house a number of mosques and Islamic centers. They could get directions to nearby mosques from the staff at the museum or even the locals, when needed.

Halal Food

Although Muslim tourists may not find Halal food at the Picasso Museum, they will find numerous Halal restaurants in Barcelona. The city is home to some excellent Halal restaurants serving a range of cuisines such as Indian, Pakistani, Middle Eastern, Lebanese, French and not forgetting authentic Spanish cuisine. Muslim tourists could get directions from the mosque to nearby Halal restaurants or even ask the locals to help them out.
