Overview

Located in the upper part of Barcelona, Park Güell is one of the most beautiful icons of the city. Designed by architect Antoni Gaudí, the park was initially a housing project for the wealthy in the midst of beautifully landscaped gardens, however only two houses were built before the plans were abandoned. Surrounded by modernist work, the park offers visitors fantastic views of the city and is a great place to see some amazing stone structures and impressive tiling. The dragon fountain at the entrance is one of the stunning creations of Gaudi. Covered in broken pieces of coloured ceramic, the dragon is quite striking and is just one of the many interesting creations within the park. The terrace area at the top not only offers visitors great views of the city but also has seating covered in vibrant mosaic tiles which are truly quite beautiful. Those visiting Barcelona should definitely make it a point to visit this unique park and enjoy a walk among some breathtaking modernist works of art. The park also houses a museum that is worth a visit.

Prayer Facilities

Muslim tourists visiting Park Güell will not be able to locate prayer facilities inside the park. They will however find a number of mosques and Islamic centers in the city of Barcelona where they can offer their prayers, when needed. While at the park, they could ask for directions to the nearest mosque, or they could find a quiet place in the park to offer their prayers.

Halal Food

Barcelona has some fabulous Halal restaurants catering to its local Muslim population and the numerous Muslim tourists. The city offers a range of restaurants serving cuisine as diverse as Moroccan, Indian, Lebanese, Pakistani and more. Those requiring Halal food will surely be able to find some great dining options to suit their palate. Although tourists visiting the park may not find Halal restaurants within its premises, they will have plenty of choices in the city.
