Overview
The Albert Hall Museum, also known as the Central Museum is located in the gardens of Ram Niwas Bagh, in Jaipur. It is the oldest museum in the city and was built in 1868 when King Edward, the Prince of Wales, visited India. Modeled after the Victoria and Albert Museum of London, the colonial style building is an elaborate and visually stunning piece of architecture in a city filled with many beautiful and decorative buildings. Although the majestic building is considered to be the main attraction with its domes, pillars and arches, the museum does indeed have an impressive collection of portraits, costumes, carpets, wooden carvings and many more ancient relics which make the museum well worth a visit.
Prayer Facilities
Muslim visitors requiring prayer facilities while at the Albert Hall Museum may not find a prayer room within its premises. The will however be able to find mosques in the city, as Jaipur is home to a number of masjids. While at the museum, tourists could ask to be guided to the nearest mosque, when needed.
