Overview

Place de la Bourse, also known as Place Royale is one of Bordeaux's most beautiful squares and the buildings surrounding it are considered to be some of the best Bordeaux architectural examples from the latter part of the 18th century. The spectacular square is located on the edge of the Garonne River and is part of the Port of the Moon, which is listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Aside from the magnificent architecture, visitors will also find the largest water mirror in the world, across the street. The Quay Mirror, built in 2006 is a large area covered with a thin layer of water, and during summer the water mirror draws many visitors. The fountain system also creates a fog effect which is enjoyed by both kids and adults alike. Although the square is impressive during the day, visitors will find it even more stunning at night when it is fully lit up.

Prayer Facilities

Muslim tourists requiring prayer facilities while at the Place Royale could ask the locals for directions to the closest mosque, as the city is known to have several mosques frequently used by both its residents and its visitors. If unable to find prayer facilities close by, they could find a quiet area near the square and offer their prayers, when needed.

Halal Food

The city of Bordeaux is home to some good Halal restaurants; thus those looking for Halal food outlets while at Place Royale could inquire at the mosque for the location of nearby Halal restaurant. If unable to find a Halal restaurant close by, tourists could dine at a vegetarian or seafood restaurant. However, they would have to make sure the ordered dish does not contain any non-Halal items.
