Overview
The ruins of the Fukuoka Castle are found in the heart of the scenic Maizuru Park, adjacent to the popular Ohori Park. The Fukuoka Castle dates back to the 17th century in Edo Period when it was once the largest castle in Kyushu. Some of its walls, gates, guard towers and turrets can be witnessed even at present. The area is much-loved for its walking trails and picturesque surroundings that provide the perfect atmosphere to spend a few leisurely hours. The best time to visit the castle ruins is during the months of March to April, when the cherry blossom trees of the park burst into full bloom. The castle can be reached in a few minutes' walk from the Ohori Koen Subway Station and is a delightful place to visit when sight-seeing in Fukuoka.
Prayer Facilities
Plenty of private space will be available throughout the park to make use of during prayer times even though designated prayer facilities at Fukuoka Castle will be unavailable. Muslim travellers who wish to visit a mosque in Fukuoka may go to the Al Nour Islamic Center – the only mosque in Fukuoka, located in Higashi-ku.
Halal Food
The availability of Halal food near Fukuoka Castle and Maizuru Park will be limited but Muslim travellers could visit some of the Halal restaurants around Fukuoka for Halal dining options. Zaeka, Mr. Kebab, Kebabooz and Nabi San Halal are some of the popular spots and are all located within city limits.
