Overview
Being a popular attraction in Chiang Mai amongst tourists and locals alike, Dokmai Garden is a delightful tropical garden located in the heart of the city. The aim of the botanical garden is to educate the public about the tropical flora and fauna of the area, with a special focus on monsoon gardening. Dokmai Garden was opened to the public in 2009 and was formerly a longan plantation until it was converted into a modern garden by the Seehamongkol family along with western scientists. At present, the Dokmai Garden covers an area of over 4 hectares and is home to over a thousand plant species. Visitors to the garden will also be able to sight an abundance of fauna including numerous butterflies, birds, reptiles and fish. A visit is highly recommended for nature lovers.
