Overview
The Yulong River Valley is considered to be one of the most popular sight-seeing spots amongst travellers in Yangshuo. The Yulong River - which translates to "meeting the dragon river" - is a tributary of China's Li River and winds its way over 35 kilometres, across tiny villages along the way - such as the towns of Putao, Litang, Chaolong, Yima and Gaotian. Unlike the Li River, the Yulong River area is a very tranquil and peaceful region with no motorised boat traffic. The valley area is very fertile and it is not uncommon for travellers to note several rice fields in the region as well as fields of pomelos and tangerines. For outdoor enthusiast who would love to explore the surroundings on a refreshing bike ride or hike, a visit to Yulong River Valley is recommended.
Prayer Facilities
Plenty of open space is available out in the open, though designated prayer facilities around Yulong River Valley will not be available for Muslim travellers. Travellers will also have to keep in mind that there are no known mosques in Yangshuo and the nearest mosques to Yanghshuo are in the city of Guilin, about 80 kilometres away.
Halal Food
Muslim travellers may visit a few of the Halal restaurants in Yangshuo for Halal food options. The halal noodle shop opposite the bus stand is a popular Halal food spot amongst the small Muslim community in the city. Though a few eateries will be available around the area, access to Halal food may be limited. Though vegetarian options may be available, it is highly recommended that you enquire about how food is prepared prior to dining.
