Overview
Opened to the public in 1995, the Royal Malaysian Navy Museum proudly showcases the achievements and contributions made by the Malaysian Royal Navy. The aim of the museum is to educate the public about the important role played by the Royal Navy and the prominence of Melaka's position of being a hub for the navy. Visitors to the museum can witness several spectacular items on display such as awards won by the navy, picture exhibits, weapons, navy equipment as well as perhaps the most noteworthy exhibit - the 16th-century Portuguese ship standing at 34 metres in height. The lower level of the museum also offers a collection of items that were brought in from Indian, Chinese and Arab traders.
Prayer Facilities
Though a dedicated prayer facility may not be available at the museum for guests, it is always possible to enquire for a private area that can be used during prayer times. Visitors could also visit some of the mosques in the vicinity of Melaka such as the Al-Azim Mosque, Kampung Hulu Mosque, Tranquerah Mosque and the Malacca Straits Mosque.
Halal Food
Plenty of Halal food options are available in the near vicinity of the Royal Malaysian Navy Museum, including the Restoran Taj, McDonald's and Pak Halim Corner which are located within the limits of the Melaka city.
