Funchal is a beautiful city and the capital of Madeira. The city finds a wonderful location overlooking the blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Apart from offering beautiful views, Funchal also offers travellers with a wide range of adventure activities like paragliding, diving, snorkeling, etc. The city also serves as one of the main ports of call for several Atlantic cruises. A ride on the Funchal Cable Car is highly recommended to see exotic views of the city.
The city was originally a small village which has developed into one of the prime hubs in Madeira. However the city does keep up its old charm and visiting the markets in Funchal gives visitors an ideal about the culture and the lifestyle of the locals. The city center of Funchal is quite small and good to walk around. Madeira is such a beautiful island.. I have eat in 2 halal restaurants ... Well they are more like fast food Kabab restaurants... Delicious in funchal :) in Madeira Shopping Centre and LA vie (if I'm not wrong) Shopping Centre.
