Who am I? A Revert to Islam of 5 years. Travelled to multiple countries in the world and keen to share the insider facts to guide and help Muslims in their travels. Benidorm: A city I exclusively travel to as I have an elderly relative who lives there. Benidorm itself was once a remote fishing village however has rapidly progressed throughout the years into a tourist hotspot, Benidorm is popular for its "relaxed culture" and its famous beach. As a Muslim Benidorm wouldn't be a befitting destination to travel to unless absolutely necessary my reasons are listed below. The town is popular due to its nightclubs and drinking culture, there is very little option to sit somewhere and have a non alcoholic drink without being surrounded by people drinking and by music. As a muslim I find much of Benidorm uncomfortable, also note that the beach itself unforttantly has much public nudity and lacks modesty (the beach also has no space to have a "private spot" and is much like sardines crammed in a can during peak season).] Halal food is questionable wherever you go in Bendidorm due to a lack of signage. If you head towards the old town there is one halal butchers to serve a select few Muslims and I believe (though this must be confirmed) that some of the local Indians are run by Muslims and serve halal meat (but still serve alcohol). As far as i have experienced and know there is not a Masjid present in Benidorm (I would be very surprised if there was). Unfortunately the tourists and residents alike can be quiet hostile towards people of not only a different religion but also a different race, the hostility remains at staring and small comments but no further action. I hope this information is of a benefit to the Ummah.
