As Islam requires every Muslim to perform Hajj at least once in their lifetime, every year the Masjid Al-Haram draws a large crowd. Aside from this annual gathering, Muslims from around the world, visit the Al-Haram throughout the year, to perform Umrah.
It was built build Built originally between 634 and 644, the masjid has since gone through many modifications. Those visiting Makkah must pay the Masjid Al-Haram a visit and pray and perform the necessary rituals while there.
