Trendy Male Fashion Styles for Muslims

Islam is a region that recognizes the value of beauty and elegance. Dressing up in beautiful attire is not only desirable but also recommended, especially for men during special religious celebrations.

However, dressing up beautifully and elegantly also means modesty. Certain lines should not be crossed, no matter if you're a male or female. And in Islam, the lines of what's appropriate and what's not in terms of clothing are tied to the concept of the awrah.

So, what are the trendy male fashion styles for Muslims that you can adopt to look elegant? That's why in this article, I will talk about how you can keep up with modern fashion and not forget about your Muslim roots.

But First, What Is Appropriate to Wear in Islam (Men)?

When it comes to dressing up modestly in Islam, there are many schools of thought, some are more conservative, and others are probably too progressive for their own good.

However, it's not too much of a complicated matter when you get right down to it, especially for men. Since this is about trendy male fashion, let's leave the definition of the awrah for women aside for now.

When it comes to Sunni interpretations of the awrah of a man, it's the part of the body from the navel to the knees. There's a debate about whether the belly button and the knees are also included in the awrah. It's often recommended not to wear shorts that don't cover the knees.

Very tight sports pants that make the crotch stand out are also not recommended. In other words, the genital's shape shouldn't be discernable.

Additionally, silk, gold, transparent clothes, and effeminate clothing (cross-dressing) are prohibited for men.

So, as long as you follow these basic rules, dressing up modestly and elegantly should be simple.

Frugal fashion refers to a simplistic/minimalistic style of dressing. Frugal fashion is made to be timeless and accessible to everyone. The whole idea behind dressing up frugally is to look elegant without busting your bank account.

This is your affordable shirt, jacket, and classic pants with leather shoes. And since the whole point is to dress up modestly as a Muslim in the modern world, frugal fashion is the first-go to.

The American 90s hip-hop fashion is returning again. It has become trendy among many Gen-Z young men. While contemporary hip-hop artists are known for their fashion choices that definitely don't strike you as modest when you look at the rappers from the 90s, they're actually dressed up in a Muslim-friendly style.

Many black American rappers like Ice Cube are actually Muslim, which explains why they have inspired many Muslim men all over the world with their art and style.

Casual wear is like frugal fashion; it's not supposed to look too bombastic. With casual wear, we're talking about an H&M t-shirt, denim jeans, Adidas sneakers, and perhaps a baseball hat.

Casual wear is exactly what it sounds like; it's casual, and you look casual with it.

Dressing up casually changes over time. What was casual in the 60s no longer looks casual in our days.

So, to dress up casually, all you have to do is look at the clothes that the fashion stores exhibit and that should give you a good idea of what's the status-quo "casual" of the meantime.

When it comes to traditional Muslim fashion, it's always evolving while keeping the old templates. We're talking about your latest 2022 kaftan or sirwal that still keeps the old formula but innovates with it.

Final Words

Personally, I really don't need to read an article about male fashion to decide what to wear. I just look at black jeans, a hoodie, and Vans sneakers, and I'm like, "that's what I'm wearing today (like all the other days)."

I'm not the best authority when it comes to fashion because I don't care much for it, which is not something to be proud of. I respect men who go to great lengths to look elegant. It's a good mindset.
