The tahmid is one of the most recited phrases or dhikr in Islam. Tahmid is a phrase used to express our thankfulness for Allah's blessings in life and praise His greatness. The use of tahmid is popularized and is frequently used as it is the words that were used by the Prophet SAW often. Its popular use is also due to its depth of meaning and its centralized use of it as it is mentioned often in the Quran and hadiths.
The tahmid is mentioned and is one of the first phrases that can able to be found in the Quran, as it is located in the second verse of Al-Fatiha (the first surah). As we are humans, the creation ofcan able to be granted the good things in life only through His blessings and giving, it is wise for us to always express our gratitude to Allah. By reciting the tahmid, we are thanking Allah and acknowledging that there is none worthy of worship except for Allah, as only He can give us uncountable blessings and love. Remembering Allah not only for the big things, but even the small things such as having food on our table. The recitation of tahmid is always recommended as the recitation is not limited to anything. In fact, as said by Abu Hurairah, "Any matter of importance which is not begun with Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah) remains defective", and therefore it is advised to always start things by reciting the tahmid.
We as humans are always granted by His uncountable blessings and love. As only Allah is worthy of our praise, may we always recite the tahmid and remember His greatness. Amin.
