It is one if not, the only online company (Instagram) in Singapore that allows you to order authentic Indonesian Murtabak Manis (Murtabak Bangka) online. This savoury treat is a popular Halal street food in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. The name “Terang Bulan SG” was derived from the original moniker of Murtabak Manis, which locals of Indonesia - the origin of the dessert, dubbed it as. The "SG" is an abbreviation for "Singapore."
At Terang Bulan SG, every Murtabak Manis that is ordered is personally prepared and done up by Ms Adhita herself, so you can rest assured that the taste of this amazing dessert is authentic. But that's not all, not only does Terang Bulan SG's Murtabak Manis look heavenly, they also taste amazing with sensational flavours such as banana, oreo, shredded cheese and Nutella!

Adhita is a brave lady indeed. At only 14 years of age, she left the comforts of her home in Surabaya, Indonesia to migrate to Singapore. In her adolescent years, she had to quickly adapt to the fast-paced environment that is Singapore. It was tough for her initially, as the language barrier proved a stumbling block. However, after much perseverance, she has managed to integrate well with the society here in Singapore. Over the years, she has even managed to pick up the local slang and that has helped her tremendously in her integration. Now, 12 years after she first landed on the shores of Singapore, she owns the popular online dessert business that sells Murtabak Manis or Sweet Pancake in English terms.
Whenever the opportunity arises for her to head back to her hometown, the first thing she would carry out is to sample her favourite treat. In recent times, she was not able to return to Indonesia due to her commitments in Singapore. That period led to her pondering as to when she would be able to grab a bite of the Murtabak Manis. After much consideration, she decided to finally learn the process of making the delectable treat once the opportunity for her to visit Surabaya arises. One of the main factors in her decision to learn the craft was so that she would not need to travel to Surabaya just to indulge in this mouth-watering delight. She wanted to replicate the taste of the Murtabak Manis found in Indonesia - a taste which is "unforgettable" in her eyes. And thus, Terang Bulan SG was born.
Terang Bulan started a little over 4 months ago after Ms Adhita honed her skills through a course in making the savoury treat for a lengthy period back in her native Indonesia. Since starting her online company, Terang Bulan SG has earned rave reviews and has managed to retain a steady flow of repeat customers since its inception. Through her hard work, dedication and desire in wanting to share this unique flavour with Singaporeans, it has led her to be as successful as she is today with her business.
Ms Adhita has dubbed her own creation as "TerBul," a combination of the words "Terang" and "Bulan" which translates to 'bright' and 'moon' respectively. The reason behind the moniker is that she is paying homage to her roots, where her people are known to abbreviate lengthy words.

Their goal is to always retain that authentic flavour that Ms Adhita reminisces so much about, so you can be sure that every "TerBul" made is similar to those found in her homeland. Ms Adhita's personal favourite is the “Banana TerBul,” which she says is due to her love for fruits. She discovered that the banana represents the ideal fruit that goes well as a filling for her "TerBul" as it melts away when heated, giving the same effect as the other fillings that she currently uses. Apart from being her favourite, it is also one of the most requested flavours among her clients. In addition, Terang Bulan SG offers two designs when it comes to their Murtabak Manis, one being the standard size of a normal pancake and the other taking the shape of a pizza. The pizza variation is the one which has earned her numerous welcoming reviews as it has all the different flavours that she has ever created condensed into a single large piece. If that doesn't sound like it would be so lip-smackingly delicious, I don't know what does! Now, everyone can enjoy this dessert to satisfy their various taste buds.

There's no doubt that Ms Adhita has been through a lot since she left Indonesia, but she hasn't let that stop her from doing what she loves. Although she is a one-man machine operating a business in a tough industry by herself, she cherishes the guidance, help, and advice she gets from her fiance and his brother. Her parents have also been extremely supportive of her business venture.
In her own words, she has not really perfected the recipe of her creations. Till today, she is constantly taking feedbacks from her clients and improving any grey areas to work her way to perfecting the recipe. Coming from a marketing and customer service background, she initially found it difficult to structure her business but has finally settled on one. Ms Adhita stressed the importance of maintaining professionalism when liaising with clients. Living in the age of technology, a single mistake fuelled by emotions could ruin a brand and Ms Adhita has mentioned that she has already familiarised herself with the dynamics of the online market (social media) and stated that she is always cautious when handling any adversities in the business. She puts professionalism above everything else in this line.
