As the world continues to face unprecedented challenges, there is one thing that we can do to make a positive impact this Ramadan. We can do this by supporting HalalTrip’s #PledgeYourLunch campaign with UNHCR. #PledgeYourLunch campaign is a powerful movement that started in Ramadan 2018, and since then HalalTrip has been partnering with various non-profit organizations committed to helping those in need.
Join the movement today, and #PledgeYourLunch this Ramadan to make a difference in the lives of refugees around the world.
This Ramadan marks our third year partnering with UNHCR – The UN Refugee Agency. This year HalalTrip aims to support underfunded refugee communities around the world. The plight of refugees is a global issue, and we believe that it is our shared responsibility to help those who are most in need. There are many refugee communities that are neglected due to a lack of proper funding and coverage. Therefore, we are shedding a light on these communities and encouraging people to act today.
Within these 30 days of Ramadan, we hope to raise USD 10,000 in aid for UNHCR’s humanitarian efforts to protect and resettle the displaced. All the funds raised in this #PledgeYourLunch movement will be channeled to UNHCR’s sustainable solutions, such as access to healthcare, education, and work opportunities for the refugees. Together, we can help build a better future for them.

Syrian refugees are one of the most underfunded refugee communities. The recent Türkiye-Syria earthquake has severely affected the already displaced Syrian refugees.
These Syrian refugees were displaced from their homes due to the long-running crisis, and now they are once again left without options but to flee as their previous shelters have been weakened or destroyed by the earthquake. Their needs are immense and require urgent international support.

Yemen is known to be the world’s worst humanitarian crisis with 66% of its entire population requiring immediate humanitarian assistance. Yemen has been in and out of conflict and political instability since the 1960s. In 2015, the situation worsened as the conflict turned into a full-blown war, forcing many to flee from their homes, with 1 in 8 Yemenis being displaced.
Unfortunately, the conflict is not the only problem creating turmoil in the country. In the last few years, Yemen witnessed the largest Cholera outbreak in modern history but only 50% of health facilities are functional. Despite having the largest humanitarian operation in the world, it is still the most severely underfunded, forcing many aid agencies to shut down some of their critical and lifesaving programs in Yemen, leaving millions without immediate assistance.

Bangladesh is facing the world’s fastest-growing humanitarian crisis. The Kutupalong camp in Bangladesh is home to Rohingya refugees that have fled unimaginable violence in Myanmar. The Rohingya refugees have been fleeing Myanmar at a staggering rate with an average of 14,300 people every day, with 10 people crossing into Bangladesh every minute.
UNHCR humanitarian efforts are focused on meeting massive humanitarian needs and mitigating the impact of seasonal monsoon rains. However, UNHCR needs urgent additional support to step up the assistance to address medium-term challenges such as accessibility to education, improving water and sanitation facilities, and programs to protect the most vulnerable group – women, children, and people with specific needs.
These communities are in a dire state and are in need of urgent funding to keep aid agencies up and running. Join the #PledgeYourLunch movement by donating your lunch money savings this Ramadan to support these underfunded refugee communities. Share the blessings of Ramadan and may you reap rewards for your kindness.
