Our Tips on Enjoying Thailand During the Summer

Since Thailand is notorious for its hot and muggy weather, it is essential to wear light, breathable clothing. Choose loose-fitting clothing composed of linen cotton, or other natural fibers. Instead of wearing clothes that absorb heat, go for light-colored items that reflect it. In order to protect yourself from the sun, it's also crucial to bring a hat and sunglasses.

2. Packing summer essentials

There are a few necessities you should bring for a summer vacation to Thailand in addition to clothes. A high SPF sunscreen and insect repellent are essential for safeguarding against mosquitoes and other biting insects. To stay hydrated, it's also a good idea to pack a lightweight rain jacket and a reusable water bottle.

3. Options for transportationrickshaw/tuktuk in thailand

Buses and railroads are the best means of transportation between cities. Buses are a cheap, convenient, and regular mode of transportation between cities. Thailand's train system is a well-liked, pleasant, and effective mode of transportation. It provides first-, second-, and third-class service classes, among others.

In Thailand, tuk-tuks are a regular sight on the streets, especially in tourist destinations. Although they can be more expensive than other forms of transportation, they are practical for short distances. There are also taxis available, however in order to avoid paying too much, make sure the meter is utilized.

What To Do

A summer vacation is simply incomplete if you don’t hit at least one beach during the trip. Fortunately, Thailand's gorgeous beaches and crystal-clear waters make it all the more appealing. Each city has its own set of beautiful beaches that are free to visit all year long. Beaches are also a plus because of how friendly they are for different tourists, whether you’re going solo or with family/friends.

2. Summer Festivals

Summertime in Thailand consists of much more than just beaches and mountains. It's also a time for festivities and events that showcase the various ethnic cultures and customs that make up the country. One of our favorites, in particular, is the Festival of Songkran.

Thai New Year festivities, known as Songkran, take place every year from April 13–15. During this water festival, both locals and visitors squirt each other with water to purify and cleanse for the upcoming year. While Songkran is celebrated throughout Thailand, Chiang Mai and Bangkok host the largest celebrations. Many other festivals are happening during the summer. So depending on your time of travel, have a look here for other festivities happening soon.

Embrace the breezy evenings by visiting night markets. The timing is crucial. Plan your trip to the night markets for late afternoon or early evening, when the heat is more tolerable. Around 4 or 5 PM, most markets begin setting up, and they stay open until late at night.

1. Keep Hydration up

You must keep a water bottle with you at all times, as the summer heat can be quite dangerous, especially if you’re not used to it. We suggest keeping electrolyte packs with you for optimum hydration to avoid headaches and fatigue.

2. Beware of Scams

Although visiting Thailand is typically safe, there are a few things to be aware of to avoid being conned or having your belongings stolen. Avoid deals that seem too good to be true, such as those that take you to a secluded location or offer you cheap excursions led by overly friendly locals. Make sure your belongings are secure and keep an eye out for pickpockets when you travel in crowded areas. Additionally, be careful when riding a tuk-tuk or motorbike as accidents often happen.

3. Keep Emergency Numbers

It's critical to have contacts and the resources you need in an emergency. Always have a list of emergency phone numbers on you, such as the hospital's and the local police's. Get to know where your consulate or embassy is located in Thailand. Getting travel insurance that covers medical crises, accidents, and other unforeseen catastrophes is also a smart option.

Conclusion

Thailand's night markets are a sensory-rich, exhilarating summertime experience that showcases the country's dynamic culture. Savoring delectable street food, bargaining for unique souvenirs, and seeing live performances—these markets offer a really genuine Thai experience that should not be missed.
