Say hello to the new free app launched by HalalTrip which allows Muslim travellers to share halal dishes served in restaurants around the world.
The food spotting feature is just one of a number of innovative elements in the unique app which aims to simplify travel planning for Muslims and help make their holiday experience more enjoyable and exciting.
HalalTrip believe this app, which comes with an English and Arabic interface, will drive Muslim-friendly tourism globally especially with an increasing number of restaurants and hotels around the world wanting to become Halal certified to attract the Muslim tourist.
According to HalalTrip’s sister company, CrescentRating, the Halal tourism industry was valued an estimated $140 billion in 2013 and will increase to over $192 billion by the year 2020.
Given the growing internet and smart phone penetration in many Muslim majority regions over the past few years, technological innovations like the HalalTrip app are expected to gain immense popularity in regions such as the Far East and Middle East
With a number of innovative features and tools, the app focuses on the two core drivers of Muslim-friendly travel – Halal food and prayer facilities.
The food spotting feature allows travellers to 'spot' Halal food dishes and share them with other travellers around the world. Users will be able to upload pictures of food dishes, share them on social media and interact with other travellers.
The app also integrates an in-flight prayer time calculator that allows Muslim travellers to determine prayer times and prayer directions while travelling. App users are provided with prayer times and Qibla for all their upcoming flights to ensure that praying while travelling is made easier.
Finally, the app also contains a complete collection of Islamic travel prayers in both English and Arabic and with audio playback. HalalTrip plan to offer a direct booking service in a few months and will let users make hotel reservations directly via the app.
App users may choose between an English or Arabic user interface, allowing them to use the app in their preferred language. More language options are being planned to be included in the future.
The free app is available for both iPhone/iPad & Android smartphones and can be downloaded by searching for ‘HalalTrip’ in the App Store/Google Play.
