As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, we should take this opportunity to remember some good deeds that should be done during this blessed month. Ramadan is a wonderful time to perform good deeds that promote spirituality. Every person strives to make this month different from other months by praying more, reading the Quran, feeding the needy, performing Umrah, I'tikaf, and other good deeds in the hope of God's forgiveness, and getting closer to Paradise in the Hereafter.

Night prayer is a Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad SAW, as he (SAW) often prayed at night while people were sleeping. He recommended us to pray at night as it is one of the best deeds for God, especially in Ramadan, where man is alone in the presence of the Almighty, which helps him to communicate spiritually and personally with the Creator of the universe.
I’tikaf is another Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad SAW that is recommended done during Ramadan. I’tikaf is a Sunnah that consists of staying in the mosque in obedience to Allah to devote oneself to worship for a night or a day or several days.
It is reported from Prophet Muhammad SAW that he performed I'tikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan. This is done by the Prophet in order to purify the heart from desires and improve positive thinking, and this is done by seclusion in one of the houses of Allah, which brings peace and tranquility to the soul.

The month of Ramadan is called the month of the Quran. Therefore, Muslims should recite a lot from the Holy Quran in the blessed month of Ramadan. It is also better to reflect on its words and understand its interpretations from various sources and books so that the optimal meaning, which is close to our mind, becomes clear and the explanation of its commandments and prohibitions becomes easier.
Undoubtedly, the reciter of the Quran is the highest level among human beings. The reader of the Qur'an is in the shadow of Allah, so his heart is a light that shines for him. The Qur'an is his intercessor in the hereafter.
Doing the Umrah in Ramadan according to Islamic Shariah is the visit to the Holy House of Allah to perform worship to God Almighty. The Umrah is based on the Ihram by circumambulating the house and walking between Safa and Marwa. The Umrah is not bound to a particular time of the year but can be performed in all months. The best month for Umrah is during the month of Ramadan because of its great reward.

The last good deed recommended to be performed during Ramadan is by feeding the poor. Feeding the poor is one of the acts of worship that should be performed in the generous month of Ramadan without racial or religious discrimination. The generous month of Ramadan describes that generosity must be a human characteristic towards the poor and needy, and the month of Ramadan is called the month of generosity or Ramadan Kareem in Islamic societies. If you have doubts about giving to others, pray to Allah and put yourself in their shoes. In the end, whether you are able to do it or not, everything you give or even had intended to do in the name of Allah will be rewarded and multiplied by Him.
Ramadan is a great opportunity to show the best of ourselves. In doing so, we should not forget our children and try to share some of these good deeds with them so that when they grow up, they have been familiarized with Islamic culture and continue these good deeds in life.
