Dua When Leaving A Gathering (Kaffaratul Majlis) Transliteration
Subhaanaka Allaahumma wa bihamdika, ash-hadu 'an laa 'ilaaha 'illaa 'Anta astaghfiruka wa 'atoobu ilayk.
Glory is to You, O Allah, and praise is to You. I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but You. I seek Your forgiveness and repent to You.
Importance, Benefits, and Why You Should Recite The Dua
Starting the good things with dua, it is then equally important to end it with dua. This dua is recited after a gathering or a majlis (a gathering by a group of people to talk or discuss something) that has a purpose and is expected to reap a specific benefit or goal. By reciting this dua, we can expect several importance and benefits out of it, including:
- As a way of penance if during the gathering there are unpleasant words, usage of the wrong words, misinformation, or ineffective words that result in wasting time. By reciting this dua hopefully, these imperfections in communication would be forgiven.
- By reciting this dua, hopefully, the knowledge and goals that are being achieved in the end will be obtained, become useful, and is a blessing for the members of the gathering.
- This dua can also facilitate the path to Allah's heaven. This is because majlis or gatherings that have the aim of increasing knowledge are very liked by Allah SWT.
- Reciting the dua at the end of every gathering or assembly shows that the people in it are people who are always pious and try to increase their faith in Allah SWT. When gathering in an assembly, one should guard against bad speech and end it with the prayer that has been mentioned in the explanation above, this is part of piety to Allah SWT.
- The prayer that is read in the assembly holds the meaning of an acknowledgment of all our weaknesses, injustices, ignorance, and forgetfulness. Therefore, reciting the dua would hopefully quell the wrath of Allah SWT.
