As some of us are currently experiencing hot days and even heatwaves nowadays in certain areas, it is natural for us to find ways to seek some shade and defeat the heat during the hot weather, especially to anticipate the worse during the upcoming summer. While all physical precautions must be taken to stay safe from the heat and take lots of fluids, we should also make dua to Allah. Here’s the dua to recite during the hot scorching weather:
لَا إِلهَ إِلَّا الله مَا أَشَدَّ حَرَّ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ، اللَّهم أَجِرْنِي مِنْ حَرِّ جَهَنَّم
La ilaha illallahu, ma ashadda harra hadhal yawm, allahuma ajirni min harri jahannam
There Is No Deity Except Allah. How Hot Is This Day! O Allah, Protect Me From The Heat Of Jahannam
We should always remember Allah and his blessings, no matter our situation, even on a scorching hot day. When things like heat waves are too much to handle, we should still return to Allah with gratitude and complete sincerity.
The Prophet SAW as narrated by Sayyadina Abu Hurayrah, said that “When it is an extremely hot day, Allah Ta’ala turns His attention to the people of the skies and the earth. The moment a person recites the following Dua, Allah Ta’ala says to Jahannam, ‘Indeed, a servant of mine has sought refuge in me from you, now you bear testimony that I have granted him salvation from you”. These imply some of the benefits we could get through reciting this dua as explained below.

The hot weather brings several dangers and risks, and reciting this dua would InshAllah be additional protection to all the physical protection we should take. It is a need for us to stay safe and attempt our best to avoid the blazing heat through different measures. Excessive hot weather may turn into a heatwave and pose a dangerous and life-threatening illness called heatstrokes.

We as Muslims should always remember that even during extremely hot days, Allah will never give us challenges we cannot handle. Therefore, understanding his challenges and condition would give us some insight into how the world revolves and learn things from it.
Allah created many things for our benefit, and when some things grab our attention in a negative light most of the time, we only focus on them. Forgetting all the things that Allah has created in our favor to help and satisfy us. We should always try to be grateful for His giving.

Allah is the creator of everything, including the Sun, and as such, always focus on Allah as the creator of the heat, not His creation. Reciting the dua would start with the declaration of Allah as the only God, implying that only Him deserves our attention, not his creations and the challenges we face.
As we can see, the dua mentions that His blessings and only Him can save us from the Jahannam and the heat of its fire. May reciting this dua make us closer to Allah and reflect more on His blessings.
By taking all the precautions and reciting this dua and with complete faith in His blessings, may we be saved from the scorching heat. Amin.
