Museums are a great way to get to know a country and to learn about its past, culture and heritage. And as opposed to what most think, they’re not boring. While Manila has museums of all kinds, we’ve picked some of the city’s most interesting and entertaining museums that are proving to be popular amongst kids and adults alike! .

National Museum of the Philippines

From Fine Art, to Natural History, Ethnography, Archaeology, and the National Planetarium, in addition to many others, the National Museum offers artifacts and displays from the 18th century up to the 21st century that will not disappoint. The Mind Museum

The science museum, divided into themed galleries: Atom, Earth, Life, Universe, and Technology, aims to spark an interest in science discovery amongst both; kids and adults. The Mind Museum not only has over 250 interactive exhibits, and two outdoor areas, but also conducts educational shows and programs, and hosts traveling exhibitions. UST Museum of Arts and Sciences

UST-Museum-of-Arts-and-Sciences The University of Santo Tomas Museum of Arts and Sciences, the oldest museum of its kinds in the Philippines, started in the 17th century as a “Gabinete de Fisica”, an observation room of mineral, botany and biology collections used in medicine, pharmacy and other science courses. Today it houses a wide array of exhibits, from natural history displays to a wide collection of rare books, religious images, oriental art and ceramics, paintings, fossils, coin’s, and much more, including memorabilia of the university. Philippine Science Centrum

The Philippine Science Centrum or PSC, is an interactive science center-museum that is the first of its kind in the country. Through over a hundred hands-on exhibits and displays, as well as workshops, the museum offers visitors a platform to have fun while educating themselves on a variety of aspects of science and technology through seeing, touching, hearing and feeling. The PSC features 11 galleries: Lights, Bodyworks, Mathematics, Electricity & Magnetism, Water, Vision and Perception, Infectious Diseases, Earth Science, Space, Kids’ World and Mechanics, home to exhibits that teach visitors about a variety of important things such as recycling, action and reaction, electricity, the greenhouse effect, gravity and so on. Location: E-Com Building, Riverbanks Center, Marikina City, Metor Manila Operating Hours: Monday to Saturday 8 AM - 5 PM Entrance: Adults: 130 Php, for a maximum of 1.5 hours, with additional 60 Php every hour thereafter .

Casa Manila

Casa-Manila Located within the walls of the renowned Intramuros, Casa Manila; modeled after an 18th century traditional Spanish home, offers visitors the chance to see what Spanish colonial architecture looked like first-hand, as well as a look into the opulent lifestyle of affluent families during the Spanish colonization. While exploring the museum’s three floors, visitors will come several rooms filled with a fascinating and lavish collection of antique furniture, ornaments and household items, and artwork from the period.
