Islam is, in fact, said to be the third largest faith in the US, and Los Angeles is actually incredibly Muslim-friendly in terms of the facilities and services it offers.

Los Angeles is home to a sizeable population of Muslims, so finding Halal food and mosques in the city will not be as difficult as you would think. The Muslims in Los Angeles come from all over the world - Pakistan, India, Africa, and numerous Arab countries – communities of which can be found throughout LA. While there are numerous mosques in Los Angeles frequented by the Muslim community, for your convenience, we’ve listed out a few of the better-known ones below.  

 

1) Islamic Center of Southern California

The Islamic Center of Southern California, or ICSC, is a famous masjid and Islamic center in Los Angeles. Serving the greater Los Angeles area, this beautiful mosque also happens to be one of Southern California’s largest mosques and has facilities for males as well as females. Apart from the five daily prayers, also conducted here are Quran lessons, and Islamic classed. It is visited by a multicultural community that is very active and friendly, which means you are sure to feel right at home from the moment you step into the center.

2) Masjid Omar ibn Al-Khattab

Another famous mosque in Los Angeles is Masjid Omar ibn Al-Khattab, which offers prayer facilities for men and women. If you’re hoping to pay Exposition Park - home to many museums and attractions - or the University of Southern California, a visit, Masjid Omar ibn Al-Khattab is located nearby. The community that frequents this mosque is also quite diverse and welcoming, and the mosque is known to offer a wide variety of activities, cultural programs, and more.

3) King Fahad Mosque

The King Fahad Mosque in Los Angeles is known for its beautiful exterior and equally lovely interior. Adorned with large chandeliers, mosaics and Arabic calligraphy, this well-known mosque conducts the five daily prayers, has separate sections for men and women, and also allows anyone interested to tour the mosque.

4) Masjid Al Mumin

Located on Saint Andrews Place in Los Angeles, Masjid Al Muminis today located on the site that the Islamic Center of Southern California (see above) once was. The mosque is located in a house, in a residential area, and offers separate facilities for women.

5) Masjid Bilal Islamic Center

For over half-century, Masjid Bilal Islamic Center has served the South Los Angeles area. Conducting a variety of religious classes, apart from the daily prayers, Masjid Bilal has become a well-known mosque in the area. It offers prayer facilities for men and women.
