Description
With a 116-meter minaret (influenced by the design of the Sheikh Omar Mosque in Baghdad) Putra Mosque is a beautiful mosque and one of the best in the region. While it has kept the traditional Islamic architecture, the designers have used local ideas and material to blend in very nicely.
Overall architecture is derived from Persian Safavid period. The basement wall of the mosque resembles that of the King Hassan Mosque in Casablanca, Morocco. It can accomodate a congregation of around 15,000 worshippers.
