The hotel is situated in Rogaška Slatina, the city with centuries old tradition of hospitality and world famous Donat Mg mineral water. Esplanade, Excelsior, Aleksandrov dom, So?a – these are the names under which the Aleksander Hotel had hosted aristocracy, the rich, artists, politicians and others for almost a century. The hotel welcomed the world-renowned sculptor Ivan Meštrovi?, heir to the throne Aleksander Kara?or?evi?, politician Ivo Šubi? and composer Franz Liszt. Due to its outdated facilities the hotel had to close its doors in 1995. After a decade of abandonment it found a new owner and in 2007 a thorough renovation had started. Three years later the hotel opened its doors in all of its glory under the new name Aleksander.
