Mataram is a part of Lombok Island within the West Nusa Tenggara Province. As its capital, this city is a cultural melting pot that is predominantly the people of the Sasak tribe. This region in Lombok is where cultural and culinary tourism happens!

Mataram has great many temples and parks for visitors to visit! One of the best ones in town, The Lingsar Temple was built in 1741 as a symbol of the Muslim and Hindu communities. There is also the Meru Temple where plenty of cultural symbolism lies for everyone who wants to learn about Mataram’s ancient site. 

As Mataram is still a part of Lombok island, this town is known for its gorgeous beaches and resorts! Among the best beaches is Ampenan Beach! This is a very popular place in Mataram, especially for its sunset views and plenty of food along the beach. 

Mataram’s cultures are portrayed in various places all over town. The best places to witness great artworks and historical artifacts of ancient Mataram are the Griya Lombok and the Nusa Tenggara Barat Museum. Instruments, manuscripts, garments, antiquities, and many more are exhibited within the museums and parks for the visitors to enjoy and get familiar with Mataram!
