Located in The Netherlands, in North Holland in the Haarlemmermeer municipality is the main town of Hoofddorp. Hoofddorp is actually the nearest town to Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport and is located only about 20 kilometres away. Tourists find it incredibly easy to travel by train from Schipol; as the journey is only about 4 minutes long. The town is known for its many events which occur throughout the year, depending on the season. Hoofddorp is a quiet town and may not be ideal for those looking for an adrenaline rush. It is however perfect for those looking to relax and unwind, as well as for visitors who like to shop. Even though there is not much to do or see in Hoofddorp, the town is conveniently located close to some major towns and cities, therefore making it a good base for exploring. Muslim visitors will be please to know that they will be able to locate some Muslim-friendly facilities in Hoofddorp. There are three prominent mosques in Hoofddorp which are frequented by locals and tourists alike. Finding Halal restaurants in Hoofddorp will not be that easy, but there are a few.

Hoofddorp’s main City Centre is a definite must-visit. The area is quite popular and is actually said to be like one big shopping mall. It is filled with shops and stalls worth browsing. The City Centre is known as a shopper’s paradise during the day, but at night this area becomes quiet and empty.

Since Hoofddorp is located only about 20 minutes away from the stunning historical city of Haarlem, tourists must also make it a point to visit the city. There are numerous museums, historical sites and landmarks here that can be explored. Frans Hals Museum, Grote Markt, and Teylers' Museum are some of the most popular attractions in Haarlem.

Those with kids will definitely enjoy a trip to Zandvoort Beach, which is one of The Netherland’s finest beaches located only about 35 minutes from Hoofddorp. The beach is about 9 kilometres long and is great for tourists looking to soak up some sun. Muslim visitors must be aware that part of the beach; about 3 kilometeres of it, is a nudist beach. There are signs which clearly point this out.

Other places to visit in Hoofddorp include Fort bij Hoofddorp or the Hoofddorp Fort; which is said to have been built in 1903, and the Hoofddorp Windmill.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is the closest airport to Hoofddorp. This airport offers international services and is about 10 kilometres from the center of the town of Hoofddorp. Tourists could also use the services offered at Rotterdam The Hague Airport, which is approximately 56 kilometres from Hoofddorp. They will be able to reach their destination via public transport.

Halal Restaurants
