Denarau

 

Located in Fiji, northwest of the main island of Viti Levu, is the stunning private island of Denarau. Denarau Island is home to top notch hotels like Hilton, Radisson and Westin, as well as to a renowned 18-hole golf course, a variety of restaurants, stunning sandy beaches, and so much more. The island also hosts numerous sporting and entertainment events and festivals. Denarau Island is a great family-friendly vacation destination, as it offers activities for young and old. It is also the perfect place for those looking to relax and unwind. As for those seeking adventure; Denarau Island will not disappoint. Even though visitors will be able to find multiple dining options here, finding Halal food in Denarau will be tough. Muslim visitors must be aware that locating a mosque in Denarau will also prove to be difficult. 

 

This man-made island paradise has resorts that cater to every visitor’s need. Tourists will be able to relax by one of the many remarkable pools on the island, while their family members golf, swim, dive and parasail. The beaches found in Denarau may not be the best in Fiji, but they are anyway quite spectacular. As Denarau is renowned for its bright sunny days, catching some sun; while here is a definite must.

 

While here, a visit to the Port Denarau Shopping Centre is also a must. This popular shopping precinct has a brilliant atmosphere and is great for those looking to get in some shopping while on holiday. It is also home to a variety of fantastic restaurants, as well as to a bakery, a supermarket and much more.

 

Located just a few minutes away from Denarau is Nadi. This bustling town located on the main island of Viti Levu, towards the west is also home to a large number of hotels and motels, restaurants and shops. Tourists will also be able to find a nice selection of souvenirs to take back home, here.

 

Another must-visit is the Denarau Golf & Racquet Club. This tropical golf course incorporates a unique South Pacific theme and is known for its beautiful 18-hole golf course and for offering breathtaking views of the aqua waters that surround it. Here, visitors will also find bunkers in the shape of marine animals. The golf course is ideal for all skill levels and those not well acquainted with the sport can also sign up for lessons, if needed.

 

 

The closest airport to Denarau is Nadi International Airport, which is the main international airport for the Republic of Fiji. This airport is located about 10 kilometres away from Denarau. It therefore takes only about 8 minutes to reach Denarau Island. Visitors can take a taxi to get to their destination from the airport. There are also transfer companies that offer services here.

 

 

There are no known Halal restaurants in Denarau. Most hotels or resorts however are known to accommodate food requirements if notified in advance. Muslim tourists could also make inquiries regarding Halal food in Denarau, at the hotel they are staying in. They can also dine on seafood dishes at local non-Halal restaurants after making sure the dishes do not consist of any non-Halal items.

 

 

There are no known mosques in Denarau. Muslim tourists will have to offer their prayer in the hotel room when possible. They could also ask the locals for other prayer facilities in Denarau or for mosques located in nearby areas.
