Located in the in the Izmir Province of Turkey, just 2 kilometres from the ancient city of Ephesus, is the town of Selcuk. The main town in the Selcuk province, Selcuk serves as a good base for exploring the surrounding ancient sites. The town flourishes below the Ayasoluk Hill and is easily accessible. Muslim travellers can find a number of Muslim-friendly facilities in Selcuk. Apart from being close to archeological sites, Selcuk also has a few historic sites that are worth visiting. The nearest airport to Selcuk is the Adnan Menderes Airport located in Izmir. The airport is located about 55km from Selcuk. Visitors can either take trains or minibuses (dolmus) to reach Selcuk. A train ticket ideally costs 4TL but the train can be quite crowded. Travelling to Selcuk by minibus can be expensive but convenient. From the airport visitors can travel to the Selçuk – Ephesus Otogar, which is about 2km from the airport; this ride costs around 10TL. Further the minibus from the otogar to Selcuk costs 7TL.
