Locarno is a beautiful town located in the Ticino Canton of Switzerland. Placed at the foot of the Alps and at the shores of Lake Maggiore, Locarno receives almost 2300 hours of sunshine every year. The city has attracted travellers from all around the world especially the northerners who are looking for a break from the cold weather. Locarno has been an important place since historic times and was the site of the peace conference in 1925, which was intended to bring steadiness to Europe after WWI. The blossoming palm and lemon trees make Locarno a wonderful place to visit. Locarno is also the site of the church of Madonna del Sasso, which is located overlooking the town. The nearest airport to Locarno is the Lugano Airport. From the airport visitors can take a bus to the Lugano station and from there a train to Locarno.
