Grindelwald has been a popular resort destination in Switzerland since the 18th century. Grindelwald is considered as the only car-accessible mountain resort in the Jungfrau area. There are several peaks around Grindelwald that can be accessed, out of these the Jungfraujoch is a must hike.
During the summer months, Grindelwald turns into a hiker’s haven. With the area blooming with Alpine flowers there are almost 300km of hiking and walking trails around Grindelwald. In the village the Grindelwald History Museum is a good place to learn about the area and its heritage. A train ride around Grindelwald gives visitors’ unmatched views of the Alps and the beautiful scenery.
Grindelwald has a few shops selling souvenirs and items of basic necessities. There are also several ski rental shops around the area. The Hauptstrasse is lined with different types of shops.
