Paje is a beautiful beach destination and is a popular spot for kite-surfing. It is frequented by many tourists and travellers throughout the year, wishing to experience the unique charisma of the village. The village of Paje is located along the southeastern coast of Zanzibar Island (also known as Unguja Island). It is found between Bwejuu village and Jambiani village - two other popular tourist spots in the country - and is located about 40 kilometres away from the Zanzibar International Airport. Paje village itself stretches for around 5 kilometres and can generally be explored on foot.
The village is perhaps most noted for kite-surfing. There are many spots around the village for tourists to learn the sport and it is a popular and delightful way to while away the time in the village, provided that weather conditions are good.
The beautiful beaches of Paje are the main attraction of the village. In addition to the beaches, travellers may also explore the nearby Seaweed Centre, Zanzibar Butterfly Centre and the Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park which are located in relatively close proximity to the village.
The closest airport to Paje is the Zanzibar International Airport – also known as Abeid Amani Karume International Airport – which is located about 40 kilometres away from the village. Zanzibar International Airport is a prominent airport in the country, serving numerous airlines and passengers throughout the year.
There are a few Indian, Arabic and African eateries in the village that travellers can visit, but it is recommended that you enquire with restaurant owners about the availability of Halal food and menus. Most of the local restaurants offer a wealth of seafood options - with special fish daily menus being a favourite amongst locals.
