Vilnius is a beautiful city located in a picturesque setting. Vilnius is the capital of Lithuania and finds location in the southeastern part of the country. The city is quite pretty and preserves the heritage and culture of the area. In the year 2009 Vilnius was named as the European Capital of Culture. The Old Town area of Vilnius is quite attractive and excellent to visit. The Gediminas Castle is one of the most important landmarks in the city. From the castle visitors can get the most amazing views of the city. The Presidential Palace in the old town is also quite wonderful to see.
There are quite a number of museums and monuments dotted around the city. The National Museum of Lithuania preserves the culture and history of the area. The KGB Museum and the Lithuanian Picture Gallery are also good to visit. The city also features some good parks like the European Park and the Verkiai Regional Park, which is one of the biggest parks in Lithuania. A hot air balloon ride over the city is a great way to get a good view and also have some fun.
When it comes to shopping, Vilnius offers some good opportunities. There are a number of shopping malls around the city that have numerous shops. Some good shopping malls in Vilnius are Akropolis, Helios City, Europa,Panorama, Ozas, etc. The best things to buy in Vilnius are hats, amber, flaxware and woolen goods.
Vilnius is served by the Vilnius International Airport. The airport is placed about 6km from the city center. There are regular buses that leave from the airport to the city center. The ride takes about 15 minutes and a one-way ticket costs around 3.5LTL. There is also a train that leaves from the airport to the main station and a ticket costs 2.5 LTL. Taxis and private transport is also easily available at the airport.
There are no halal restaurants in Vilnius. There are a few vegetarian restaurants in Vilnius like Vegafe, RawRaw, Briusly, Radharane Vegatarian Restaurant, etc.
