Sigulda finds location in the Vidzeme Region of Latvia in the exotic Gauja valley. The town is surrounded by exotic natural sceneries. Siguldais a welcome respite for visitors looking to get away from the city crowd. The Gauja National Park is located just a few kilometers from the town. Visitors can enjoy a canoe tour in the area. The Sigulda Castle is a major landmark in the city. The castle was built in 1878 and features Neo-Gothic architecture. Today the Sigulda Castle houses the Sigulda Region Council. Another important castle in the area is the Turaida castle.
The Turaida castle is located about 4km from the city center. Between the Sigulda Castle and the Turaida castleis the Gutmanis cave.Other castles good to visit in the area are the Sigulda Medieval Castle Ruins and the Krimulda Palace and Ruins. A cable car ride across the Gauja valley is highly recommended. There is also an amusement park in the area known as the Wild Cat.
