The city itself is quite compact and the best way to see it is by walking around. Tam Coc about 9Km from Ninh Binh is a beautiful site, visitors should hire a boat to explore the limestone cliffs and the waterways.
The Trang An Grottoes also features scenery similar to Tam Cocbut has several caves that need to be passed. A little further from Ninh Binh is the Hoa Lu Ancient Capital, which was the royal city, established in the 10th century; today visitors can see the remains of this ancient royal city. From the Ma Yen visitors can get a bird’s eye view of the entire area. Visitors can climb 500 steps to reach the summit of the mountain.
When it comes to shopping Ninh Binh does not offer many options. Visitors can find some good souvenir shops and handicraft shops along the streets in the city.
