The town of Kalabaka is located at the foot of the unique Meteora rock complex. The Meteora rock complex is an extraordinary complex of rocks which have been split by earthquakes and eroded by natural phenomenon. On each of these rocks monasteries have been built and can be seen from Kalabaka. The town of Kalabaka itself has a long history and is good for visiting. The Chasia mountain range overlooks the city and can be approached easily.
There are a number of villages within close reach of Kalabaka that are good to visit. The arch bridge between Pyli and Elati is built from stone and is a single-arched bridge. There is another bridge in the village of Sarakina that is good to see. Visitors can also take a cruise along the River Aspropotamos, which is a tributary of River Acheloos.
Kalabaka offers a good shopping experience. There are several souvenir shops in the city center and local markets are organized regularly throughout the week.
The nearest airport to Kalabaka is the Nea Anchialos Airport located about 112km from the town. From the airport visitors can take buses or taxis to reach Kalabaka.
