Vecsés is a small town located in the Budapest metropolitan area. Situated adjacent to it is Budapest's Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport. The town was once home to Swabian farmers who brought their German traditions along with them. These farmers grew cabbages and started the production of sauerkraut; which is till to date popular in Vecsés. There are many attractions with fascinating pasts in Vecsés; ideal to explore. Visitors will be met with a variety of options of things to see and do in Vecsés and its surrounding areas, and are sure to never get bored. Because of its significantly small population Vecsés is not Muslim-friendly. This means that Muslim visitors will not be able to find Halal food and prayer facilities in Vecsés.
Those visiting Vecsés have tons of places to discover. But because the town is quite small and because it is located only approximately 22 kilometres from Budapest, it shares Budapest’s attractions. Those visiting the town find it quite easy to visit the many attractions that Budapest has to offer; such as Buda Castle, Fisherman's Bastion, the Chain Bridge, the Central Market Hall, the popular Turkish baths, Hero’s Square, the River Danube and Margaret Island.
A great place for the whole family is the Budapest Planetarium, which is located in Népliget, a large park in Budapest. This large, dome-shaped building offers shows that are specially designed for children as well as educational and entertaining presentations on the earth, the planets, and the universe. 3-D films and cartoons are also screened here.
An area worth a visit is the 7th district of Budapest, situated on the Pest side of the Danube Erzsébetváros. The 8th district of Budapest is also a must-visit. It is home to numerous neglected residential buildings with beautiful interiors. While here visitors can take a tour to see the National Museum, the Eötvös Loránd University, the Semmelweis University, and the Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library.
Visitors to Vecsés also have to opportunity to shop at some of the most popular malls and streets in Hungary, because it is so convenient to drive to Budapest. Budapest is home to malls as well as smaller more personalized boutiques that sell a variety of Hungarian folk-art souvenirs, such as; porcelain, pottery and embroidered items. These souvenirs can be found on Gellért Hill and Váci Street.
The airport closest to Vecsés, and in fact located adjacent to it is Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport. This airport is located approximately 8 kilometres from the center of Vecsés. It is easily accessible and can be reached by public and private transport.
There are no known Halal restaurants in Vecsés. Muslim visitors could dine at local vegetarian and seafood restaurants after making sure the dishes served do not contain any non-Halal items. They can also take a drive to Budapest, which is located close by, and dine at some of the numerous Halal restaurants there. There are also a couple of Halal meat shops within Budapest ideal for tourists who have the facilities to prepare their own meals. Muslim visitors must be aware that restaurants in the area do serve alcohol.
Prayer facilities will be quite hard to locate, and there are no known Islamic Centers or mosques in Vecsés. However, Muslim tourists could travel to Budapest, which is only approximately a 30 minute drive from Vecsés, to use the facilities offered at the numerous mosques present there. Visitors can also ask the locals if there are any prayer areas in Vecsés that they know of, or pray in their hotel rooms if possible.
