Mýkonos City is the most important town on the Mýkonos Island. Finding a perfect location along the west coast of the island, the town is quite simple yet stunning. There are several landmarks around the town that make it a great destination to visit. The Mýkonos windmills around the town are quite attractive especially the Kato Mili. The Kato Mili is a series of windmills erected in a row on a small hilltop. These windmills overlook the sea and tap all the strong winds.
The town also has some good buildings and museums that are good to visit. The Municipal library and the town hall are some great architectural buildings in the town. The Archaeological Museum has some wonderful exhibits that were found from the Putrefaction Pit. The Aegean Maritime Museum and the Folklore Museum are also good to visit. Lena’s House is a well-known traditional house dating from the 19th century. Today the house functions as a museum and preserves several traditional items.
The Matoyánni Street is the main shopping street in the town. The street is lined with numerous shops and boutiques selling a variety of items.
Mýkonos City is served by the Mykonos Island National Airport. The airport is located about 4km from Mykonos and it takes about 10 minutes to travel from the airport to the city. There is no public transport available from the airport to the city. Taxis are easily available and charge around 5-10 Euros.
There are no halal restaurants in Mýkonos City. Visitors can find a few restaurants serving vegetarian dishes.
