Description

Heraklio is a modern city and the main urban hub on the Crete Island in Greece. The city offers excellent facilities for visitors and features a wide range of attractions. The CretAquarium Thalassocosmos is a must-visit destination in Heraklion. It is counted amongst the biggest aquariums in the Eastern Mediterranean. For those who wish to enjoy some beach fun should visit the Amoudara area.

The Meidani square is the main area for shopping in Heraklion. In this market visitors can buy traditional herbs and spices. The Daedalou Street is a great place for shopping for designer clothes. The 1866 Streetis also lined with several shops selling a wide range of items.

Heraklio is served by the Heraklion airport situated about 5km from the city center. There are public and private transport options easily available at the airport. Buses run regularly between the airport and the city center and visitors can also hire taxis or opt for car rentals at the airport.
