Rovaniemi is a picturesque city located in Finnish Lapland. The city is the economical hub of the area and is also the educational center of the Finnish Lapland. The city center is quite small about 1km and all the amenities and attractions are within walking distance. Usually visitors come to Rovaniemi for meeting Santa Claus. The Santa Claus Village is located about 8km from the city center. The area has several slides and souvenir shops and visitors can also take a safari ride around the area.
The Arktikum is among the best science centers and museums in Finland. The museum has exhibits detailing the life in Lapland and how people have been living around in the Arctic region. The Pike Science Center is also a good place to have fun. The Korundi House of Culture houses an art museum and also conducts music and art events. The Jatkankynttilabridge is an important landmark in the city The midnight sun can be observed in the area between the 6th and 7th July. This is when the sun doesn’t set. During the winter months auroras can be seen on almost every clear sky night.
Rovaniemi also offers a good shopping experience. The city has some wonderful shopping centers like Sampokeskus Shopping Centre,Revontuli Shopping Centre and the Rinteenkulma Shopping Centre.
Rovaniemi is served by the Rovaniemi Airport. The airport is located about 8km from the city centerand is said to be the largest airport in northern Finland. The airport is connected to the city by taxis and buses.
