Batumi is the capital of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara in Georgia. An important city and wonderful destination to visit, Batumi attracts a number of visitors. During the summer months visitors can enjoy a great time along the Black Sea Beach. The Batumi Boulevard is good to enjoy a walk especially during the evening. The city is good to visit at any time of the year as every season has its own charm and visitors can make the most of the stay in Batumi.
The Batumi Botanical Garden is home to different types of plants. The Miracle Park and the 6 May Park also make good places to spend some time in. The ruinsof Gonio Fortress are located along the sea shore and offers great views. The Oceanarium or the Dolphinerium is an interesting attraction to visit. Batumi is also home to several museums. The Adjara Arts Museum has a wonderful collection of Georgia arts. The Noble Technological Museum is one of the latest museums in the city and is quite remarkable.
Batumi though not a shopper’s haven it has some good shops selling souvenirs and local arts and crafts. Shopping in Batumi is quite affordable and visitors can find a good antique collection in the shops around the city center and in Old Batumi.
The Batumi International Airport located 2km from the Batumi city center is the main airport serving the area. From the airport there are buses, minibuses and taxis easily available to ply visitors to the city.
There are a few halal restaurants in Batumi most of them offering Turkish cuisine. The Grand Grill Türk Restaurant is the most popular halal restaurant in the city.
There is only one mosque in Batumi, the Orta Jame Mosque. It is a beautiful building with fine frescos and Quranic inscriptions.
